ORAL MICROBIOLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY GROUP
OF THE
BRITISH SOCIETY FOR DENTAL RESEARCH

RULES

  1. Name and Purpose
      1. The name of the organisation shall be the Oral Microbiology and Immunology Group of the British Society for Dental Research, herein after referred to as OMIG
      2. The purpose of the organisation shall be to promote and encourage teaching and research in oral microbiology and immunology. It shall also facilitate communication of research findings.

  2. Membership
    1. Membership of OMIG shall be open to:
      1. all members of BSDR
      2. workers in cognate fields

      Applications for membership shall be submitted to the Secretary, processed by the Committee and presented to the AGM for ratification.

    2. An annual membership fee may be levied and shall be payable at the time of the annual BSDR meeting.

  3. Meetings
    1. There shall be an Annual General Meeting held normally at the time and place of the BSDR. The AGM will elect officers and committee for the subsequent year, consider the activity of the Group, agree any membership fee and take such decisions as are required for the successful operation of OMIG. Motions for discussion at the AGM may be tabled at the AGM (other than as provided in Rule 5).
    2. Additional scientific or business meetings shall be arranged at the discretion of the Committee.
    3. Non-members may attend the scientific meetings under the conditions specified by BSDR for its meetings.

  4. Officers and Committee
    1. The following shall be elected as provided in Rule 3.1:
    2. Chairperson - for one year - eligible for re-election (maximum term - two years).

      Secretary/Treasurer - for one year - eligible for re-election.

      Three committee members - for three years
      (Note - each year one new member of the Committee shall be elected, preferably from among members working at the Institution where the next annual meeting is to be held; this member shall replace one old member who has reached the limit of three years).

      Additional committee members (up to a maximum of two) may be co-opted by the Committee from time to time. Such co-options should be approved at the next available AGM. Such co-options should be approved at the next available AGM. Co-opted committee members should not serve in that capacity for more than three years.

    3. The officers and Committee shall meet at least once per year to organise the affairs of the Group. It shall have power to arrange joint activities with other interested bodies. Administrative expenses incurred shall be a charge upon OMIG and BSDR.

  5. Amendments to Rules
  6. These rules may be amended by a vote of at least two-thirds of those members attending and voting at the AGM of the Group, provided that notice of such amendment shall have been received by the Secretary at least thirty days prior to the meeting.

    A motion to dissolve OMIG shall be treated as an amendment to these Rules.
