DENTALS MATERIAL GROUP

BRITISH SOCIETY FOR DENTAL RESEARCH

RULES

  1. Name and Purpose
    1. The name of the organisation shall be the Dental Materials Group of the British Society for Dental Research, hereinafter referred to as DMG.
    2. The purpose of the organisation shall be to promote and encourage teaching and research in all aspects of dental material science. It shall also facilitate communication of research findings.

  2. Membership
    1. Membership of DMG shall be open to all members of BSDR. Applications for membership shall be submitted to the Secretary and presented to the AGM for ratification.
    2. An annual membership fee may be levied and shall be payable at the time of the annual BSDR meeting.

  3. Meetings
    1. There shall be an Annual General Meeting held normally at the time and place of the BSDR meeting. The AGM will elect officers and committee for the subsequent years, consider the activity of the Group, agree any membership fee and take such decision as are required for the successful operation of DMG. Motions for discussion at the AGM should be received by the Secretary at least 32 days prior to the meeting.
    2. Additional scientific or business meetings shall be arranged at the discretion of the Committee.
    3. Non-members may attend the scientific meetings under the condition specified by BSDR for its meetings.

  4. Officers and Committee
    1. The Following shall be elected as provided in Rule 3.1.
    2. Chairperson - for one year - eligible for re-election (maximum term - three years).

      Secretary - for one year - eligible for re-election.

      Treasurer - for one year - eligible for re-election

      One committee member - for three years.

      Additional committee members (up to a maximum of two) may be co-opted by the Committee. Such co-options should be approved at the next available AGM. Co-opted committee members should not serve in that capacity for more than two years.

    3. The officers and Committee shall meet at least once per year to organise the affairs of the Group. It shall have power to arrange joint activities with other interested bodies. Essential expenses incurred shall be a charge upon DMG and BSDR.

  5. Amendments to Rules
  6. These Rules may be amended by a vote of at least two-thirds of those members attending and voting at the AGM of the Group, provided that notice of such amendment shall have been received by the Secretary at least thirty days prior to the meeting.

    A motion to dissolve DMG shall be treated as an amendment to these Rules.
