- Name
The organisation shall be called the Behavioural Sciences in Dentistry Group
- Aim
The Group aims to change the perception of the nature of dental practice by promoting:
- behavioural science teaching in dental undergraduate education
- behavioural science teaching in dental postgraduate education
- the application of the behavioural sciences to research in dentistry
- the application of the behavioural sciences to the practice of dentistry
- Membership
- Ordinary members shall be any person interested in furthering the aim of the Group. Each member shall have one vote at general meetings.
- Honorary Members shall be appointed for services to behavioural sciences in dentistry. They shall be appointed upon recommendation by the Committee and upon ratification by a general meeting. Honorary members shall not be liable for subscriptions and shall have no voting rights.
- National Committee
- Management Committee
The Management Committee elected by the membership shall consist of:
- Chairman
- Secretary
- Treasurer of the National Committee ex officio
- Two additional members
The Management Committee shall hold all of its meetings in one location, members of the Committee meeting their own expenses for this.
- Elections
Nominations for office shall be made by the Members of the Group. Elections will be held at the Annual General Meeting and officers will take up their office at the end of the meeting.
- General Meeting
- GENERAL MEETINGS shall be published by the secretary who shall give at least one calendar month notice of the time, date and place of the meeting to each member in writing.
- The ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING shall take place in conjunction with a scientific meeting each year.
- An EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING may be called at any time by the Secretary on the written instruction of the Committee or ten ordinary Members.
- The QUORUM for general meetings shall be 10 members.
- Subscriptions
Ordinary members shall pay an annual subscription covering the 12 months from 1 January to 31 December. Any change in the level of subscription must be ratified by an Annual General Meeting.
Any member who subscription is in arrears and to whom notice of the fact has been sent, may be denied the benefits of membership. Any member who subscription has been in arrears for a year shall cease to be a member.
- Benefits of Membership
The benefits of membership shall include:
- an annual Newsletter including information about meetings of local groups and of the Group nationally, of interest to members.
- reduced registration fees for meetings organised by the Group.
- A copy of the membership list.
