A Quarter Century of the BSDR
The Society celebrated its 25th birthday last year: the BSDR was born on 14th April 1983 under the Presidency of Declan Anderson. However, the roots of the organisation were established much earlier. The British Division of the IADR was established in 1953 and held its inaugural meeting on 21st March at Guy’s Hospital. Prior to this the London Section of the IADR had its first meeting in June 1931. Hence a more accurate age of the Society is 78 years and counting.
To properly record the development of the Society, some of its major figures and important events, we have commissioned a History of the BSDR by Professor Mike Edgar – President of the Society 1999-2000. This will be available shortly as a downloadable pdf.
